Anthony Teasdale was educated at Balliol and Nuffield Colleges, Oxford, where he took a first in PPE and an M.Phil in Politics. A former research fellow of Nuffield College, he has worked in the European Parliament and EU Council of Ministers in Brussels, and as Special Adviser at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and HM Treasury in London. A visiting fellow at the European Institute of the London School of Economics, he has most recently served as deputy chief of staff to the President of the European Parliament and as a director and director-general in its administration.
Timothy Bainbridge was educated at Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge, where he took a BA in classics and a PhD in the history of art. After working in the Conservative Research Department in London, he served as a senior political adviser in the European Parliament from 1974 to 1999, based in Brussels, Luxembourg and London. Married with one son, his principal interests were classical music and the history of art. Dr Bainbridge died in September 2004, at the age of 57, after a long struggle with leukaemia.
